French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday evening gave a rare news conference peppered with a string of announcements aimed at forging greater civic responsibility and security. In the lengthy 2-hour presser, Macron has sought to promote "conservative" symbols through various policies aimed at public schools, FRANCE 24's Marc Perelman said. According to Macron, public schools in France have to be republican, secular and where values are learned and transmitted, Perelman said.
