26 European countries formally agreed on Thursday to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, committing to sending troops to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commended the agreement and said those already in favor of the plan "count on" the US to act as a "backstop" within the framework of security guarantees for his country.
